Jay West Unites With FFO HypeBeast Article
This is what HypeBeast's Brycen Saunders had to say about out collaboration with artist Jay West from Harlem, New York.
Contemporary artist Jay West has teamed up with the Canadian streetwear brand, Far From Ordinary (FFO). The two united to produce a capsule collection that was inspired by New York.
The partnership began when co-designers and co-owners of FFO, Nick Welch and Adrian Kinnavanthong, met the Harlem-born contemporary artist at Swizz Beats birthday party in September 2018. As their relationship formed, West later shared a painting with Welch in which the two began discussing how it could be utilized for clothing. After months of deliberation, they finally landed upon a collaborative streetwear collection.
The Jay West x FFO capsule was inspired by upstate New York, which is where West spends his time creating art. The purpose of the upstate NY inspiration was to juxtapose the beauty of upstate with the artistic, intellectual, and musical atmosphere that is Harlem. The collection features West’s art through a number of garments.
The primary abstract artwork with bold shades of red, pink, teal, purple and yellow is featured on the back of a t-shirt. Additionally, the art is printed all over a pair of reversible mesh athletic shorts. When reversed, the shorts turn into black mesh with the FFO logo on the right thigh. Additional pieces from the collection include a matching black t-shirt with the FFO logo on the back and a red trucker hat that also features the brand’s logo.
Ranging from $65 USD to $100 USD, the collection is available now on FFO’s website."
